Tasks and goals of the festival

The festival is dedicated to 800-th anniversary celebration of Nizhny Novgorod city foundation

Nizhny Novgorod city’s prestige growth as the Russian cultural centre;

the attraction of youth to the artistic heritage of Russian people and of the world art;

choral collectives’ performing skills improvement;

experience exchange in cultural and humanitarian education areas;

professional and cultural connections development and strengthening between creative choirs;

the organization of participants’ performances, leading choir conductors’ workshops, a creative conference for choir conductors and gala-concert.


Festival founders

Ministry of Culture of Nizhny Novgorod region;

Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod.

Founders have the right to spread information about tasks, goals and the Festival program and to advertise their activities during festival events. Founders form the organizing committee and the creative committee of the Festival.

Larisa Zhukovskaya – director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism of UNN,

Olga Kotova – head of UNN students’ creative centre, assistant vice-rector of UNN;

Larisa Erykalova – art director and conductor of Lobachevsky University Choir.


Festival partners

Festival partner is a legal or an individual who contributed a donation of money or any other form for the festival events organization. Informational partner of the Festival is a registered mass media informing about the Festival and its events by available resources with mandatory presentation of Festival partners.

Festival art rules


The next student choirs’ categories have the right to participate in the festival:

Mixed choirs (training and amateur);

Male choirs (training and amateur);

Female choirs (training and amateur).

Duration of each choir’s performance (festival program) should not exceed 20 minutes and should contain minimum 50% of a cappella music.

The program could be selected freely but should be agreed with the art director of the Festival before 1st of April 2020.

The program for the festival gala-concert should contain 1 piece of a cappella music, 3 minutes duration in total.

It’s required to provide 5 (five) note scores copies of the choir’s festival program to the creative committee before the performance.

General festival participation conditions


The application form should contain the next documents:

detailed filled in Application Form (Application form is on the website);

brief biography of the choir and its main conductor;

high-quality pictures of the choir (taken not earlier than 2 years ago) and its conductor for the festival booklet (min. resolution is 300 dpi if e-mailing data).

The organizing committee shall approve the participants list by the 15th of March 2020 and the official invitation-call is to be sent to all the participants after.

Festival financial terms

Financing of the festival is based on approved by organizing committee budget at the expense of funds provided by the founders, organizational contributions of the Festival participants and also the Festival partners donations and charitable contributions.

The organizational fee is set at the rate of 150 EUR for a foreign choir collective. The travelling, meal and accommodation expenses are to be paid fully by the choir’s sending organization.
