Academic Choir of Far Eastern Federal University was founded in 1999 on the basis of Eastern Institute of Far Eastern State Technical University. The choir singers are students of various technical, humanitarian, natural sciences and other specialties who have no musical education. The love of music allowed them to become one and perform the most complicated choral pieces. Academic Choir of FEFU is constantly evolving, its repertoire includes pieces of Russian and foreign classics, works by contemporary composers, spiritual music, jazz compositions and songs of peoples of the world. The choir regularly participates in regional and international competitions and festivals and always receives high awards and gratitude from the audience. Academic Choir of FEFU was awarded by one gold and two silver medals of III International Florentine Choir Festival (Florence, Italy) in 2014. In 2016 the choir won two gold and one silver medal at 9th World Choir Games in Sochi. In 2017 the choir became the laureate of I Prizes of XIII International Competition of Choral Art “Singing World” in nominations “Mixed choirs” and “Contemporary music”, as well as the winner of special jury prizes “For the best presentation of the program” and “For the best musical choreography”.

Elena Petukhova Art director and conductor of Academic Choir of Far Eastern Federal University. Elena graduated from Far Eastern State Institute of Arts in 1993 with a degree in conducting the choir. Since the student years she has had a passion for creativity, love of music and people. It allows her to achieve an incredible sense of unity with the collective and the audience when she works with the choir. Elena Petukhova is the conductor of three choral collectives: the choir of junior classes “Firefly” (Svetlyachok), the choir of senior classes “Scarlet Sails” (Alye parusa) of Sergey Prokofiev Vladivostok children music school #1 and Academic Choir of FEFU. The collectives under the leadership of Elena regularly take part in all-Russian and international choral competitions and festivals. In 2013 the choir of senior classes “Scarlet Sails” (Alye parusa) of children music school #1 won the Grand Prix of III All-Russian competition of children’s academic choirs and vocal ensembles “Singing Childhood” (St. Petersburg), and Elena became the holder of the title “Best Conductor”. In 2016 the choir “Scarlet Sails” won the gold and silver medal of the 9th World Choir Games (Sochi), became the champion of IV Asian and Pacific choral games (Colombo, Sri Lanka) in 2017 in nominations “Children’s Choirs” and “Sacred music without accompaniment”, as well as the winner of the Grand Prix of Nations (Colombo, Sri Lanka) in the category “Children’s Choirs “.

Participants – The Children and Youth Choir of Heraklio (Greece)

The Children and Youth Choir of Heraklio was founded in 1985. A number of professional choristers as well as distinguished soloists with careers both in Greece and abroad have been members of this choir. It consists of 100 children, divided into 5 groups, aged 7 to 26.
The choir has visited countries such as: the Czech Republic, France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy. Its repertoire includes Renaissance and Baroque as well as 20th century musical pieces.
In March 2017 the choir held a Seminar of Interpretation of Claudio Monteverdi’s music with Anna Papagiannaki Divani. In July 2017 the choir was chosen by the Ionian University as the workshop choir in the Choir Conducting Seminar taught by internationally acclaimed Choir Conductor, Doreen Rao.
The pianist of the choir is Nikos Kokinis, the Singing teacher is Anna Papagiannaki Divani and the theory and solfege teacher is Nikos Kiprakis.

Ioannis Idomeneos
Ioannis Idomeneos was born in Iraklion, Crete. After his studies in Greece (degree in Harmony, Counterpoint, Instrumentation, Fugue, Diploma in Classical Singing – class of F. Voutsinos and K. Pashalis) he lived in Paris (1999-2007) where he continued his studies in Choir Conducting (Conservatoire National de Boulogne-Billancourt – class of M. Guengard) and in Classical Singing with J.L. Dumoulin in Conservatoire National de Pantin, from which he graduated in 2002. In 2003-2004 he completed his knowledge on the teaching of singing in ARIAM Ile de France. He has attended singing seminars with: Laura Sarti, Denise Dupleix, Irma Kolasi, Jeff Cohen, Noel Lee, Francois Le Roux (Fr. Poulenc Academy) , Gabriel Garrido (Ambronay Academy), and Helmuth Rilling (J. S. Bach Academy) and Choir Conducting with Antonis Kontogeorgiou.
He has cooperated with the ensembles: Accentus, Musicatreize, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Concerto Koln, Arsys, Orchestra and Choir of the National Radio and Television, Orchestra of Colours, in several performances in Greece, Cyprus, France, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, Germany.
He cooperated with Nikos Mamagakis and features in his albums: “Heimat”, “Saint Erotokritos” (Prevelakis), “Erofili” (Hortatsis), “Shadow Opera” and the melodrama “Erotokritos” (V. Kornaros).
He teaches the art of singing in the Theatre school “Notos” and he conducts the Children Since January 2013 the choir is conducted by Ioannis Idomeneos.

The history of the amateur collective Chamber Choir “Lauda” is more than 24 years old. The choir was founded in 1993 by a graduate of Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory Natalia Golubeva on the basis of Dobrynin Palace of Culture in the city of Yaroslavl. The choir is not professional, its participants are fans of choral singing – accountants, workers and engineers. They are united by the love to singing and strong friendship. The collective performs music of the most diverse genres: choral classics, spiritual music, folk songs arrangements, pieces of contemporary composers.

The creative life of “Lauda” is active and interesting, the collective always responds to all cultural events of the city and region. The choir is a regular participant of the international choral festival “Vesnushka” (Freckle), Zinoviev Choral Festival of Sacred Music, city Vocal Competition. The choir took part in Rubtsov literary and music festival in Vologda, received III degree diploma of VI International Festival “Khrustalnaya Chasovnya” (Crystal Chapel) in Moscow, took II place at St. Sergius Festival of Sacred Music in Rostov Velikiy, became the winner of I degree diploma at choral competition “Young Classics” in Vologda, participated in an international festival in Sweden in 2017.

Natalia Golubeva

Natalia graduated from Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory in 1992 from the class of choral conducting of Professor Yevgeny Garkunov. After the conservatory she returned to her native city of Yaroslavl, where she founded the chamber choir “Lauda” in 1993 on the basis of Palace of Culture of Motor Plant. Natalia is its conductor until now. During this time the choir grew up from 15 to 45 people, leads an active concert activity in the city and region, in the country and abroad.

Lobachevsky University Choir is one of the oldest choral collectives of Nizhny Novgorod. Its history began in 1949-1950. Vladimir Izyumenko, honoured worker of culture of the Russian Federation, was its artistic director and main conductor for 35 years. Since 2003 its artistic director and main conductor is Larisa Erykalova, student of Vladimir Izyumenko.

In recent years, the choir has been awarded a number of honorary awards at prestigious Russian and foreign competitions in Russia, Hungary, Italy, France, Germany, Slovakia etc.

The choir is the winner of 7 Gold medals of World Choir Games (Austria, China, USA, Latvia, Russia).

The collective annually participates in the joint projects with Mstislav Rostropovich Nizhny Novgorod State Philharmony in the framework of Philharmony’s subscription. The choir is the organizer of traditional choral festival “Young Voices” in Nizhny Novgorod, participant of city events.

Larisa Erykalova

Artistic director and main conductor of the choir, Laureate of Nizhny Novgorod’s prize.

Graduated from Mikhail Glinka Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory (class of Vladimir Izyumenko), she was working as a choirmaster of Lobachevsky University Choir from 1992, the artistic director and main conductor since 2003.
Since 2004 Larisa is the artistic director of International choral festival “Young Voices” (Nizhny Novgorod).
Awards: Laureate of Nizhny Novgorod’s prize (2010); Diploma of International choral assemblies “Eurasia cantat” for the best choirmaster’s work (Ekaterinburg, 2011); Diploma “Best conductor” of International festival of choral and folklore music “SLOVAKIA CANTAT” (Slovakia, 2013); Letter of Appreciation from the Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas George (2014); Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Culture of Nizhny Novgorod Region (2014); Honorary Diploma of the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region (2015).

XVIth International student choirs’ festival «Young Voices-2018» will be held in Nizhny Novgorod city from 10 to 13 May 2018. The best Russian and foreign youth and student choirs are expected to participate in it. 

Tasks and goals:

–  the attraction of youth to the artistic heritage of Russian people and of the world art; 

–  choral collectives’ performing skills improvement; 

–  experience exchange in cultural and humanitarian education areas; 

–  strengthening of friendly connections. 

The festival program includes:

–  each choir’s performance at Nizhny Novgorod concert halls (20 minutes program); 

–  creative meetings and performances with choirs-the festival’s participants; 

–  creative conference “Work methods with a student choir and its development perspectives”; 

–  participation in the festival’s gala-concert; 

–  workshops. 

The festival participation conditions for choirs: 
  1. The travelling, meal and accommodation expenses are to be paid fully by the choir’s sending organization. 
  2. It’s required for organizations interested to participate in the festival to send the application form (application form is on the website), the choir’s and conductor’s biography by 1st of March 2018. 
  3. The organizational fee is 150 EUR per collective. It should be paid to the organizing committee’s current account by 1st of April 2018. 
  4. It’s required to provide 5 (five) note scores copies of the choir’s festival program to the creative committee before the performance.
